We designed this add-on to phpBay Pro so we could track the details of each and every click-through to eBay from a phpBay Pro listing. The original idea was to keep an accurate server record of ePN clicks so we would have the ammunition to support our claims when ePN has one of their infamous tracking issues.

After we began storing detailed information about all clicks to eBay in a separate database, we quickly realized that the information would also allow us to analyze the click habits of our site visitors. ePN reports only give us click details when a bid is placed, QCT gives us detailed click information on all clicks going to eBay from our sites.

So as it turns out, Quality Click Tracking (QCT) is dual-purpose. It allows us to keep an eye on our ePN accounts AND it helps us tailor our sites to follow products trends and spot new viable niches.

Let me explain in more detail...

The information stored for each click includes:

• The click's Time-Stamp (adjusted for official eBay time).
• The referring URL (Both site and page within the site).
• ePN Campaign ID.
• ePN Custom ID.
• eBay Item Number (linked to the actual auction).
• eBay Listing Title.
• ePN Program Country Code.
• Clicker's IP Address (linked to a IP lookup URL).

Because each entry to the database is triggered by phpBay Pro's auction.php file only after each click has been filtered for bots, acceptable user agents and proper referring URLs, we are reasonably sure that all database entries are from legitimate human visitors.

If you look at the list above and think outside the box a little, you'll see that it's not ALL about catching ePN's tracking glitches. I also analyze this detailed information to spot new product trends with high potential and get ideas for creating new sites. For example, I have a site about Diecast Cars. While analyzing my QCT data I saw that many clicks were on NASCAR Diecast Cars, so I built a micro-niche site for just NASCAR Diecast Cars (which is doing quite well by the way).

Features in QCT Version 2 include:

Requirements and Restrictions:

QCT will work in conjunction with any phpBay Pro (WP or API) 3.x.x or 4.x.x installation where phpBay's SEO URLs feature in ON. QCT will not work if phpBay's SEO URL feature is OFF.

Everyone wants to stop people (and bots) from countries like Russia, China, Iran and many others from clicking their affiliate links. Users in these countries are responsible for countless attacks on our eBay listings. Not to mention that visitors from non-ePN supported countries usually can't buy anything from our affiliate programs anyway, they are just sending useless clicks to eBay, wasting our bandwidth and skewing our important analytic reports.

Up till now, the only effective way of blocking entire countries was to have a 'deny from' list in the .htaccess file on each of your affiliate websites. If, for example, you wanted to block access to all countries not supported by the eBay Partner Network (ePN), your .htaccess file would be over 600k and that huge file has to be processed every time a page is loaded, putting a lot of load (stress) on your hosting server. phpBay users can also block entire countries inside their auction.php file, but who want's an auction.php file that could end-up slowing down your redirects to eBay if it gets too large. Any way you look at it, blocking entire countries is a real pain.

Introducing Quality Click Blocking!

Quality Click Blocking (QCB) is a lightning-fast and easy to use Wordpress plugin that uses the free MaxMind GeoLite country data file to check the users country location before allowing them view your site. It will also allow you to selectively geo-target your Amazon, CJ and other affiliate listings.

To use this plug-in, you simply include some code in your theme's header.php file and the plug-in decides who can and who can't view your site depending on the countries you select. If someone comes to your page from a country you don't want clicking your affiliate links, the plug-in stops them in their tracks and redirects them to the URL of your choice. They can't click what they can't see! If the IP isn't in your QCB whitelist, it doesn't get in!

As mentioned above, QCB is dual purpose. Not only will it keep the riff-raff off your sites, it also acts as a highly effective method of geo-targeting all your affiliate programs like Amazon, Clickbank and many others. You can use the special short-code to geo-target content on any page/post, and you can install our special QCB Widget Helper to geo-target content in your sidebars.

You get the industry famous SEKW code script and all the help/instruction you'll need to import the keywords people use to find your site on Google, Bing, Yahoo and others. You'll be able to use phpBay and phpZon to take those imported keywords and show your site visitors exactly what they were searching for on the search engine. Proper use of this OneLung feature can substantially increase your ePN WBR (EPC) and your Amazon sales ratio!

And SEKW provides a special twist for you thick-site people who want to limit the number of ads showing to the search engine crawlers. The new SEKW only shows to live humans coming from SE searches, not to the SE crawlers coming to your pages directly.

Now move your mouse pointer down the list of links in the sidebar. Notice how they are all links to the phpBay modified Wordpress search results page. These are the "virtual" pages you just seen in Google's index and they are automatically created by pasting your list of keywords into the OneLung Sidebar Widget. Click one of the virtual links, then refresh the page a couple of times and watch the eBay upsell text on the virtual pages 'spin' too!
